Mustangs Head Coach
BILL GODSIL
My name is Bill Godsil – Head Football Coach here at Dobson High School. This is my 5th year with the program, and I cannot be more excited to lead this proud school’s football program. This is my 24th year of coaching and my 14th as a head coach. I would like to thank my family for their continued support.
I am looking forward to this year, and seeing my first Dobson Freshman class in their Senior year. This is also an exciting year as we open on 9/9/22 against Westwood on our new field turf – provided by the generous people of Mesa that passed the Bond that allowed the district to update athletic facilities. These upgrades include our new turf and major improvements to the Dobson weightroom.
We also have a new addition to our great administration, with Renee Regoli as our new Athletic Director. She brings a wealth of experience from some of the best schools in the State of Arizona. This year is set up for great success.
I believe that coaching football is a great opportunity to reach students on a personal level. Coaching gives me the opportunity to educate and inspire the young men I work with. I believe in development on three levels: development of the whole athlete, the athlete’s education, and development of the athletic ability of the player.
In today’s world, it is important that when you have the opportunity to develop a solid base of beliefs in the future leaders of our society that we have an obligation to do so. Some of my beliefs and basis for my life were established by my coaches while growing up. Giving a solid foundation to the players that I coach is the most important thing that I can pass along. Knowing that my players will be better men, husbands, and workers because of playing football is a great feeling.
This season we are focusing on laying the foundation of future success. We are building Dobson Football Brick by Brick, focusing on developing a positive culture where players feel empowered to achieve. We have challenged our seniors this season to lay this foundation through an unselfish approach to football. They have been asked to help guide the younger players as to what it means to be a Dobson Mustang and help them learn from their past so that future Mustangs can achieve more. We focus on the TEAM, rather than the ME, to ensure a tight-knit program which will turn into a family as the year progresses. We will push our players to be better athletes, students, sons, brothers, and humans than they were the day before.
GO MUSTANGS!!!
